How did you come up with the idea for this video?
"I am a performer. Although one of my biggest drives is to put on an amazing show and really entertain people with my vocal and dance ability and positive spirit, the external performance must always come from an authentic place in your heart.
Singing and dancing have always been my love, my therapy. And I wanted to combine both of those talents to make my video to my cover of Sam Smith's "Stay With Me." Immediately I thought, I want to share the recording process of Stay With Me… how I felt in the studio that night. But also, what I did when I first heard the song.
I just danced.
The white shirt was symbolic of the 'guys' shirt… the one who I just want to lay with me, hold my hand, be with. Even though I know he is not the one I struggle with his shirt in the dance. Wearing it, taking it off, kicking it around on the floor, hugging it. I am going through all of my emotions of loneliness, sadness, fear of commitment, past hurt issues, etc., reflected through my actions dancing with the shirt.
And ultimately, sometimes you just gotta sing it out. You just gotta dance… improvise. Be in the comfort of your own self, let loose and be in that moment… letting everything go. THAT is Stay With Me, and why the music video was so important to me."
